Work Experience

Present Day: Assistant Director Sports Nutrition- University of South Carolina

Sports Performance Dietitian: Individual dietary assessments and nutrition plan development; team education; fueling station design and implementation; budget management; designed performance oriented menus; designed travel meals with cost negotiation; traveled with men's basketball team; created and implemented preventative nutrition protocols for elite performance; supplement checks & education; USG hydration testing. Experience working with teams- basketball, women's softball, track and field, cross country, equestrian, and cheer/dance.  

Football consults with individual clients outside of the University.

2017-present: Performance Dietitian - US Figure Skating

Nutrition Education & Consults: Current contract dietitian & previously premier Sports Medicine Intern specializing in Elite Sports Nutrition.  Appropriately prescribed nutrition plans; designed effective recovery strategies; created and maintained competition recovery tables; created and taught cooking classes; created educational materials; designed and presented nutrition topics at camps and competitions; and interpreted blood lab results, DEXAs, and urine analysis results in combination with appropriate nutrition treatment; eating disorder and disordered eating treatment.  Traveled to venues & organized pre/post fueling. Sport Science: Created and taught dynamic warm-up for off-ice injury prevention; coordinated STARS testing programs; filmed and categorized high-speed figure skating performance.

2017-2018: Interim Director Sports Nutrition, Football Nutrition - Washington State University

Interim Director: Budget management; dietary assessments; created basic nutrition plans and supportive nutrition plans for high-risk athletes; team nutrition education and presentations; designed effective recovery strategies to support changes in training throughout the season; organized fueling stations and established pre-and post- game nutrition snacks and meal plans; refueling station ordering; established vendor relationships for best pricing; supplement checks & education; created and implemented collaborative cutting-edge protocols such as concussion nutrition treatment, injury recovery, and RED-S treatment guidelines with medical staff; USG hydration testing; managed Dietetic interns and the refueling station staffing along with staffing hiring and restructuring.  Experience working with all teams- football, baseball, basketball, track and field, cross country, swimming, rowing, volleyball, tennis, golf, and cheer/dance. Football Dietitian: Pre-season camp- designed & organized; coordinated with kitchen staff for meals; hydration USG testing with dehydration & cramp treatment/prevention; on-field hydration and energy treatment in extreme heat;  hired and managed interns for a successful camp. Daily- Dietary assessments- weight loss & muscle gain; injury treatment with coordinated athletic training staff; pre-season group presentations; menu creation & kitchen coordination to support training periodization; fueling station selections; food development for sport goals & performance foods; meal checks; supplement reviews.  Experience working with Gatorade contracts and other food vendors.

2013-2018: Performance Dietitian - Wenzel Coaching

Distance Sports Nutrition: Nutrition counseling for professional & non-professional elite cycling, triathlons, swimming, running, tennis, and soccer - weight optimization, weight loss, performance and race nutrition, recovery nutrition, women-specific nutrition, and food allergies.  Created nutrition articles and blogs for athletes and coaches.  Created recipes for athletes with food allergies.  Advised with supplementation.

2010-2016: Instructor/ Registered Dietitian - Western Oregon University

Teaching: Created curriculum for both in-class and online lectures and tests; created and led nutrition-related games, projects, assessment, and grading.  Class size ranged 30-180 students per term.   Classes Taught:  HE 325: Nutrition & PE 131: Lifetime Health and Wellness with Lab. Food service: Recipe analysis and nutrient analysis; student nutrition education in dining halls; food allergy/intolerance education, menu development.  Student Counseling: Nutritional education for diabetes management; disordered eating; eating healthy on a budget; healthy weight loss; allergies; and athletics.
